Important information when printing on magnetic vinyl
- The printer head height needs to be set to the highest setting to avoid head strikes.
- If the printer has any internal test patterns for paper advance, bi-directional alignment, etc., you will need to perform these tests, with the target media loaded and the head height at the high setting, for the best quality output.
- If the printer has any internal calibrations or linearization, they need to be performed with the target media loaded as well.
- Make sure that the media is loaded and kept tight against the core.
- Most paper paths are non-conductive, but accessories such as dryers and take-up spools may be, so testing of these is necessary.
- Roland VersaCam printers can print only on 20 mil magnetic.
